Sessions & Solutions

Three formats for three kinds of family-history work

A single workshop afternoon, a four-session catalog block, or a full year of facilitated work — each session is built for a different stage of the process.

How We Work

The Kindredpage methodology

1

Enquiry and matching

Before booking, the studio has a short conversation with each prospective participant to understand what material they are working with and which session format fits their situation. No session is a default recommendation.

2

Facilitated session work

The participant does the actual work — selecting, captioning, arranging, or describing — with the facilitator present to support the process, provide the archival structure, and keep the session moving without rushing it.

3

A physical result to take home

Every session concludes with a physical output — completed album pages, a bound catalog book, or an annual printed addition. The studio does not produce digital-only deliverables; the physical record is the point of the work.

Session One

Kindred Album Workshop

A three-hour workshop for participants who are starting a family album — selecting photographs from what they already have, writing short captions, and laying out a first set of completed album pages. Led by a senior facilitator. Archival materials and a starter album cover are included.

The workshop is run in small groups of up to eight participants. Each person works on their own album; the facilitator moves between participants to support individual decisions rather than leading the group through a shared exercise.

  • Duration: three hours, one session
  • Group size: maximum eight participants
  • Materials included: archival paper, adhesives, album sleeves, starter cover
  • Bring your own printed photographs (guidance provided at booking)
  • Available in English and Bahasa Malaysia

Session Two

Personal Catalog Block

A four-session block for participants who want to build a personal catalog of household objects that carry meaning — a watch, a piece of jewelry, a folded letter, a piece of furniture. Each item is photographed, described in writing, and recorded in a printed archival catalog book.

The work is strictly organisational and archival. Objects are recorded, not assessed. No item is appraised, valued, or filed with any external party. The catalog belongs entirely to the participant. Sessions are conducted one-to-one with a facilitator.

  • Duration: four sessions, timing arranged at booking
  • One-to-one work with a designated facilitator
  • Archival photography conducted at the studio
  • Printed catalog book included (200gsm, bound)
  • Payment may be split across two installments — ask at enquiry

Session Three

Yearlong Album and Catalog Membership

A twelve-month membership for participants who want a steady rhythm of family-history work across a full year. Combines quarterly facilitated sessions with attendance at public workshops and an annual printed addition to the album or catalog the participant is building.

The membership is reflective and archival. It is suited for participants who already have a sense of the record they want to build — and who want a structure that keeps them returning to it rather than leaving it until "later." One participant per membership.

  • Duration: twelve months from start date
  • Four quarterly facilitated sessions (one per quarter)
  • Open workshop attendance included throughout the year
  • Annual printed addition to your album or catalog
  • One participant per membership; not transferable

RM 2,860 per year

Catalog Block — best for participants with specific household objects they want recorded, described, and held in a physical reference they can pass on.

Yearlong Membership — best for participants who want to build a sustained family record across a year, with regular sessions and a structure to return to.

Shared Standards

Protocols that apply across every session

Privacy handling

No participant material is copied, shared, or retained by the studio after the session concludes. Digital files from catalog photography are deleted once the printed book is delivered.

Archival materials testing

All materials used in sessions are sourced from archival suppliers and checked against ISO 9706 specifications for paper permanence where applicable.

Non-advisory facilitation

Facilitators are trained to support organisational work only and will not offer — or imply — advice on the financial, legal, or insurance dimensions of any object or record.

Data protection compliance

Booking and contact records are held in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. No participant data is shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

Pricing

Transparent session fees

All fees are in Malaysian Ringgit and include the archival materials listed for each session. No additional charges are added after booking.
